Job description
About Teamwill Consulting
Putting domain expertise and artificial intelligence at the heart of the decisions that finance millions of projects, vehicles, and equipment around the world is the core of what we do.
For more than 20 years, Teamwill Consulting has been supporting leading players in banking, consumer finance, and mobility through their strategic and technological transformations. Operating in 11 countries and bringing together more than 800 professionals, the Group combines deep industry expertise, close client relationships, and the ability to deliver on a global scale.
Artificial intelligence is a cornerstone of our growth strategy. To carry that ambition, we are strengthening our technology, engineering, and data teams.
Role Summary
As a Software Engineer at Teamwill Consulting, you design, build, test, and operate production software across the full stack: back end, front end, and the data layer in between. Depending on your assignment, you might be modernizing a large business-critical legacy platform, building a shared internal asset inside the CTAIO function, delivering custom software directly for a client through the Custom Dev practice, or a mix of both. In every case, the standard is the same: clean, well-tested, secure code that someone else can safely change after you.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and test backend services and application programming interfaces (API), following an event-driven architecture where appropriate (for example using Kafka).
Design, build, and test front-end applications and user interfaces, leveraging Design Systems so that the branding of your front-end applications is encoded and versioned.
Own your applications end to end up to production. Feel responsible for supporting your users, and for fixing bugs in production and intermediary environments on your applications.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts so that you eventually own functional requirements: you are accountable to clarify requirements up to the point where you can explain them and there is no clarification required anymore. Own the non-functional requirements for the applications you build: collect them, formalize them, and ensure you design and deliver them.
Build quality in from the start. Write automated tests as a normal routine of writing code (unit tests, integration tests, contract tests, and end-to-end tests, aiming for a high, enforced coverage standard), apply secure coding practices by default (e.g., input validation, dependency and container image scanning, and secret management are part of “done”), and take part in code review, giving and receiving direct feedback on code quality and holding the line on the team’s engineering standards.
Participate in decomposing large, tightly-coupled legacy services into smaller, independently deployable ones, including extracting business logic that has accumulated inside a database over time into well-tested application code.
Stay compliant with the continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines the organization defines as the standard for your applications, consistent with Teamwill’s Everything as Code practice: infrastructure, pipelines, and configuration are versioned and reviewable, never hand-applied. Share valuable feedback on platform improvements with the Platform Engineering team.
Where relevant to your assignment, use an artificial intelligence (AI) coding agent (for example Claude Code, Cursor, or OpenCode) through the full workflow: planning a change, executing it, and watching it through deployment, reviewing its output with the same combination of automated checks and human review as anyone else’s code, and maintaining the project’s own standing context documentation for agents. As a principle of our organization: code you ship is yours, agent-assisted or not.
What You’ll Work On
Assignments vary, and this role is intentionally full-stack in substance. Expect various assignments ranging between:
Delivering custom software directly for a client through Teamwill’s Custom Dev practice, on a stack that spans backend, front end, and cloud infrastructure.
Joining a technical remediation and modernization program for a large-scale financial-services platform: decomposing a legacy, database-heavy system into modern, event-driven services.
Building a shared engineering asset used across multiple client engagements, within the CTAIO function.
The work is international: you will collaborate with teams and clients across Teamwill Consulting’s geographies.
Job requirements
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent hands-on professional experience) in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of hands-on, full-stack software engineering experience: comfortable moving between backend, front end, and basic database and infrastructure work across the stack.
Strong skills in Java and the Spring Boot framework, or an equivalent modern backend stack, plus working knowledge of a modern front-end framework (React or Angular), and of Python and FastAPI, particularly for engagements involving data, automation, or AI-adjacent tooling.
Experience with event-driven architectures (for example with a message broker such as Kafka or RabbitMQ) and cloud-native computing, and the judgment, appetite and curiosity for the tradeoffs behind an architecture decision beyond familiarity with the technologies involved: monolith versus microservices, synchronous versus asynchronous, consistency versus latency.
Solid working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and relational databases (for example PostgreSQL), and comfort writing automated tests at multiple levels (for example JUnit for unit tests, and a browser-automation tool such as Playwright for end-to-end tests).
Practical experience with containerization (Docker), and with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (for example GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions).
Comfort with clean-code and software craftsmanship practices and secure-by-default habits: dependency scanning, secret management, and treating security finding as a bug to fix.
Professional fluency in English; professional French for roles based in France or Tunisia.
Nice to Have
Experience extracting business logic from a procedural database language (for example PL/pgSQL) into a modern application language, ideally in banking, capital markets, or another regulated financial-services sector.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps deployment practices.
Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard for connecting AI agents to external tools and data sources.
Location & Mobility
A minimum of 3 days per week, on site is expected, at Teamwill Consulting offices or at client engagement locations, with travel varying by assignment.
Teamwill fosters an inclusive work environment and ensures equal opportunity in all hiring decisions, regardless of gender, age, national or ethnic origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, beliefs, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
