Job description

About Teamwill Consulting

Putting domain expertise and artificial intelligence at the heart of the decisions that finance millions of projects, vehicles, and equipment around the world is the core of what we do.

For more than 20 years, Teamwill Consulting has been supporting leading players in banking, consumer finance, and mobility through their strategic and technological transformations. Operating in 11 countries and bringing together more than 800 professionals, the Group combines deep industry expertise, close client relationships, and the ability to deliver on a global scale.

Artificial intelligence is a cornerstone of our growth strategy. To carry that ambition, we are strengthening our technology, engineering, and data teams.

Role Summary

Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) is a new, strategically important practice inside Teamwill Consulting’s CTAIO function, built to deliver the firm’s artificial intelligence (AI) and software assets directly into client environments through hands-on, commitment-based engagements (fixed-price or outcome-based, never staff augmentation). This is a founding leadership role reporting directly to the CTAIO, with exposure to the Chief Executive Officer: you will build the practice from close to zero, hire and develop its engineers, and prove a delivery model where a small, elite, technically excellent team creates outsized client value. You are accountable both for every client the practice serves getting durable, working value, and for turning what that delivery work learns into a standing contribution to Teamwill’s shared asset codebases and central asset portfolio. This is one of the most consequential hires in the CTAIO function and at Teamwill Consulting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the FDE team: define the team’s structure, hire its first engineers, and set its technical and delivery standards from day one. Develop the technical and consulting skills of the engineers you hire: this role blends engineering craft with the emotional intelligence, stakeholder management, product and business judgment, and executive presence historically associated with consulting.

  • Personally take the most difficult or highest-stakes client engagements, embedding directly in the client’s environment to design, build, and deploy solutions alongside engineers you oversee.

  • Own the practice’s engagement model: commitment-based delivery only, with a clear-eyed view of the trade-offs against traditional staff-augmentation work, and a plan for keeping the team’s utilization and morale healthy under that model.

  • Own AI and asset security-by-design, and compliance-by-design, for every deployment into a client environment: this is where a design decision made months earlier becomes a real, consequential risk if it was wrong. Own streamlined, reliable asset delivery on every engagement: every deployment respects the platform’s portability contract (no hardcoded endpoints, regions, or deployment names, and a documented dependency manifest), so what is deployed at one client can be redeployed at another without rework.

  • Own the standing feedback loop from client engagements into Teamwill’s shared asset codebases and central asset portfolio: hold accountability, together with centralized product and engineering, for turning recurring client needs into what gets built and enriched centrally, so each engagement builds on the last.

  • Use AI coding agents to accelerate porting and adapting assets at client sites, and set the practice’s own standard for calibrating agent autonomy against a client’s higher stakes and carrying an asset’s standing context documentation forward into the client’s codebase.

  • Represent Forward Deployed Engineering to clients, prospective clients, and internally, including articulating what the practice is and is not, to teams elsewhere in the firm.

What You’ll Work On

You will work across Teamwill Consulting’s client base, wherever an AI or software asset needs to be deployed, integrated, and made to work inside a real client’s environment, alongside existing legacy systems, data residency rules, a client-side security review, and often a regulated industry context such as financial services. Some engagements will be short and surgical; others will run for months. Either way, success is judged on two things: whether the client gets durable, working value, and whether Teamwill gets reusable, working code and patterns embedded into its shared asset codebases, in addition to a write-up.

The work is international: you will collaborate with teams and clients across Teamwill Consulting’s geographies.

Job requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including meaningful, recent time spent embedded directly in client or customer environments, deploying and integrating real systems in addition to internal work.

  • Direct experience with the “deployed engineering” or “solutions engineering” model as practiced by AI-native and platform companies: building bespoke, highly-customized integrations at a client site, and porting what works into a reusable platform afterward.

  • Prior experience building or scaling a technical team from scratch or a very small base, while leading technically from the front: writing code, debugging production issues, and winning a technical argument with a client’s engineers.

  • High-agency ownership: a track record of identifying a gap or a better approach and driving it through.

  • Strong understanding of security and compliance considerations in client-facing software deployment, including data residency and access control in a regulated environment.

  • Excellent client-facing communication skills: this role sits at the intersection of engineering and consulting.

  • Fluency in modern AI engineering practices (integrating large language models (LLM), evaluation-driven development, and the operational realities of both managed and self-hosted models), with software craftsmanship instincts, an Everything as Code mindset, and the standards discipline to hold the practice to both even under client pressure to cut corners.

  • Professional fluency in English; professional French for roles based in France or Tunisia.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in a founding or early-stage role at a technology or AI-native company known for a deployment-first culture.

  • Prior consulting experience, particularly in technology strategy, solutions engineering, or technical presales, ideally in banking, capital markets, or another regulated financial-services sector.

  • A track record of public speaking, writing, or thought leadership on applied engineering or AI deployment topics.

Location & Mobility

A minimum of 3 days per week, on site is expected, at Teamwill Consulting offices or at client engagement locations, with travel varying by assignment.
